The NewWSO Concerto Competition

3 WINNERS; ONE GREAT CONCERT!

An opportunity for talented, young musicians in Westchester County to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to perform significant, solo works with the New Westchester Symphony Orchestra (Benjamin Niemczyk, Conductor) on April 30, 2017 in White Plains, NY.

Prizes

1st Prize: $500 + Performance
2nd Prize: $250 + Performance
3rd Prize: Performance only

Who is eligible

Westchester residents of high school age who play any standard orchestral instrument, e.g., violin, piano, flute, clarinet, trumpet, voice, etc.

What to prepare

One movement of a significant work for soloist and orchestra. The piece must be in the public domain and the score/parts must be freely available online*.

Schedule

Wed, Feb 28 - Materials due
Wed, Mar 08- Live auditions in Westchester w/ piano (accompanist provided by NewWSO)
Wed, Apr 26 - Dress rehearsal w/ orch
Sun, Apr 30 - Concert

How to register

1. Complete the online form below
2. Pay the $50 registration fee
3. Prepare a video of one movement of a work for soloist (piano accomp ok for video)
4. Materials due Friday, Feb 10, 2017
